Journal #20

I recently finished up another semester at Eckerd. It went really well, despite all of the craziness. Never have I been so occupied; searching for the perfect internship, flying back in forth from St. Pete to D.C., attending salsa lessons, going to judo classes, lifting weights, and studying. It was a great success, though, as I acquired many new skills and got straight A’s.

I spent the last week in Macon. It is so depressing to go there now. Grandma practically sleeps all day because of her disease, Grandpa is becoming grouchy and depressed, and my dad seems so unhappy there. It used to be one of my favorite places to go; now it is becoming one of my least. At least Grandma remains loving, and is not bitter and mean like they say so many infected with Alzheimer's become.

I spent the past couple of nights in Atlanta. It was good to see my Decatur family. On Friday I went to go see An Inconvenient Truth with my cousin Liz, but it was not showing, contrary to what the movie listings reported, and we saw Down in the Valley instead. What a twisted movie!!! Good if you feel like shooting yourself and are having any doubts. Yesterday I rode a bike to the square in downtown Decatur. They were having their annual art festival, with live music and vendors selling everything from handmade jewelry to fancy works of art. Then I decided to ride my bike over to Palifox and see my old house and neighborhood. It brought back a lot of memories, as I had not been in that part of Atlanta in about six years. Last night I went bowling with my other cousin Taylor. It was amazing, I won both games and was actually doing a pretty good job despite the fact that I have not been bowling in over a year and my right ring finger is experiencing technical difficulties (broken or jammed or...well, I don’t have any idea, it just hurts).

I am now on my way to Washington D.C. to get a visit in with my mom and Klep-dizle. I have about an hour left on my Airtran flight. I wish they could invent a portal so I would not have to wait any longer. It would make traveling so much easier. My flight was at 9:30, but I had to wake up around 6:30, just to shower, pack, eat and get to the airport early. This morning I arrived at the airport at around 8, waited in line to check in for about 10 minutes, then another 20 in the security line, another ½ hour at the gate, then about 15 minutes on the plane, waiting for take-off. Now I have to wait to land, wait to exit the plane, and then wait for my mom to pick me up. So much waiting...
